Innovate UK Accelerated Knowledge Transfer (AKT)
Three-month collaboration between a UK knowledge base and a business to evaluate or develop an innovation concept, with a streamlined application. Rounds are occasional: AKT 6 closed in July 2026 and no AKT 7 has been announced.

- Up to £35,000 grant at a 90% rate for any business size; the business pays at least 10% of project costs in cash; 3 months (13 weeks)

- Led by a UK university, college, RTO or Catapult, with one UK registered business that has at least four FTE. Charities, third sector and public sector organisations are not eligible. Projects should align with the six Industrial Strategy sectors prioritised by Innovate UK.

- Project summary: 200 words; Public description: 50 words; Scope: 200 words; Innovation, Challenges and Risks, Partnership need and Project Outcomes (the scored questions): 300 words each; Project plan: 300 words, with no separate workplan (AKT 6)

Wellcome Career Development Award
Usually 8-year award for mid-career researchers in any discipline who are ready to lead a bold, creative programme related to human life, health and wellbeing. Always open since August 2026, with shortlisting three times a year and then an interview.
