Wilhelm von Humboldt envisioned research and teaching unified in pursuit of knowledge. Two centuries later, we've built something else entirely. An industrial complex where evaluation threatens to eclipse discovery itself.

The question isn't whether our systems can assess science. It's whether they still serve it. Whether the machinery we've built to understand research has begun to constrain the very curiosity it was meant to nurture.
